    The Zohra All Female Orchestra visits Australia.  Founded by Monash Arts alumnus, Dr Ahmad Sarmast, the Afghanistan National Institute of Music (ANIM) created Zohra comprised of girls aged 14 to 18, defying cultural norms and the end of the Taliban's ban of music and girls from education.

    This internationally acclaimed group brings their message of hope, freedom and gender equality as they perform their unique blend of classical Afghan and Western instruments. Led by its female conductor, the ensemble is world renowned since their international debut playing before world leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos and sold-out concerts in the U.K., Germany, Switzerland and Sweden.

    This event is Presented in collaboration with the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Australia, Australian Government, Monash Gender, Peace and Security Centre, and Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music at Monash University.
