› Kids Music Session (Grantville Online)
Location: Your Place , Online via Zoom - Open in Google Maps -
About the Workshop:
We will learn new songs, do some body percussion and play together. Have a scarf, teddy bear, 2 milk bottle tops and something to tap (drum, clap sticks or whatever is lying around!) handy to use in the session. All welcome, young and old! Starting with the youngest musicians and ending with something especially for older kids.
Meet the Leader:
Katie Hull-Brown: Katie has been teaching music since 2002 in primary classroom music, instrumental piano and ukulele, preschool music classes, primary school and Kindergarten choirs and percussion groups.
She began Tuned In Music in 2006, offering an Orff style approach to families for preschool music sessions. Now it’s an intergenerational class called Musical Generations. In 2010 Katie started a new choir for young children in Preston called KIDS (Kids In Darebin Sing) Choir that perform at local community events.
In 2015 she was accepted into the Richard Gill National Music Teacher Mentoring Program and is currently mentoring generalist primary classroom teachers to include more singing with their classes.
In 2016 Katie joined the MSO’s flagship community outreach program, The Pizzicato Effect, where she introduced a new choral element to the program.
Katie was given funding from the Australian National Council of Orff Schulwerk to attend the 2017 International Summer Course in Salzburg, Austria and was nominated for the Aria Award for Australian Music Teacher of the Year Award.
She is currently teaching for The Sage Garden providing incursions to preschool settings and a Teaching Artist at The Songroom for their new in schools music mentor program; Duet. Katie sings in two choirs and Songrise, a performing acapella quartet.
