› Border Music Camp is back!

Border Music Camp is back and being held in Albury from Sunday 25 September to Saturday 1 October 2022!

Border Music Camp is a week-long camp for musicians of all ages from 8 years of age, from beginners to advanced students. Musicians play in one of six large   ensembles, experiencing rehearsals and tutorials each morning under the guidance of the Camps skilled Conductors and Tutors.

Musicians travel from across Australia to take part in Border Music Camp’s unique opportunity in music education. Dormitory accommodation is limited and eligibility is   open for students who live out of the local area and who are in Year 8 – 12 at school at the time of camp and under 18 years of age.

For a week students will live and breathe music. Their playing will be guided by our staff, superb musicians who are themselves excited and passionate about music.

Mornings are spent in rehearsals taken by the conductors and tutorials taken by an experienced performer in your instrument. All campers sing in a massed choir,   under the direction of a specialist conductor. The conductors and tutors assist students to learn new ideas and gain experience.

Our beginner ensembles Cran and Pringle are designed for students who have been learning for a minimum of six months.

In the afternoon students can choose from a number of small groups in the ‘elective sessions’ where they will experience a wide variety of music which can include e.g., jazz; choir; big band; Celtic music; string ensemble; experimental music and more.

From Monday to Thursday we have in-camp concerts. The relaxed friendly environment welcomes students to take part solo, with friends or with our staff. Staff members also perform at these concerts giving an example of their terrific playing. An accompanist is available at these concerts.

Border Music Camp also hosts a ‘Composer in Residence’.  As many campers as possible have the exciting opportunity to play new music, written especially for them.

Students have a choice of living in at the Camp or attending for mornings only or for short or long day sessions.

This year’s Camp will conclude with public concerts on Friday 30 September and Saturday 1 October which are the culmination of the Camp.

Border Music Camp has a number of sponsorships available to assist students where financial constraints prohibit attendance at the Camp and welcomes applications.

The closing date for applications to Border Music Camp is Thursday 1 September 2022.

If necessary, Border Music Camp has Gift Deductibility for Taxation purposes. Further information is available on the Border Music Camp website   at www.bordermusiccamp.org.au . Border Music Camp also has a Facebook page which can be found at www.facebook.com/bordermusiccamp.org.au
