› Ballan Community Street Band, Taster Session

Location: 73 Inglis Street  3342  , Ballan - Open in Google Maps -

The Ballan Community Street Band (BCSB) will be starting up in early Feb 2023! Open at no cost to all ages and mixed ability players (basic competence) of portable acoustic instruments (i.e. that don’t require amplification, such as brass, saxophones, percussion). It will provide a fun and vibrant playing opportunity for the Ballan and surrounding district communities.

What is a Street Band? They’re fun, informal, highly accessible to varied instruments and abilities, open to all ages; they bring people together to make music together; you might very well see them playing in street processions and community events. Playing with others in an informal way is a great way to bring life to music making – and it’s sociable too.

If you have an instrument and have basic competence with it, then why not plan on coming along to the initial starter sessions in February. We’ll try out some rhythms, play a few notes, even start on some tunes. The sessions will be organised by Oli Hinton who has many years' experience playing in street bands both in Oz and the UK, and running mixed ability workshops. Come along and have a blast!
