The Melbourne Youth Chorale, founded in 1986 by renowned music educator Jean Heriot OAM, seeks to appoint a Choral Educator to join its artistic team, commencing Term 2 – 24 April 2019.
The right person will have experience in choral teaching and conducting and be able to deliver rehearsals based on Kodaly pedagogy that are age-appropriate, productive and enjoyable. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential as the appointee will be working in a community-choir context and as part of a wider artistic team. Applicants must demonstrate an enthusiasm for working with children and young people, have a good sense of humour and be willing to work as a team member.
The successful candidate, will be responsible for directing the Dunlop training choir in rehearsals and performances, and liaise with the artistic team to select repertoire and implement musicianship programs. You will need to occasionally attend artistic planning meetings, an annual camp and performances as required.
MYC Rehearsals are held each Wednesday of the school term, at Federation University Berwick from 4:15pm – 8:00pm. The Dunlop choir rehearses 4:15pm until 5:45pm.
