› Growing Community Music: The Road Trip is Underway!31/Jul/2019
The great Victoria road trip is underway as part of Growing Community Music's research phase with Jane Coker and Lyndal Chambers heading to different parts of the state to consult with community music makers and community music group leaders.
Over the course of the past few weeks Jane has clocked up the k's travelling to workshops in Warrnambool, Cranbourne and Albury/Wodonga, whilst Lyndal has journeyed to meet with people in East Gippsland, Mildura and Wonthaggi. The pair has been busy gathering information, opinion, and insights through conversations about the community music landscape, here in Victoria. This information will form the basis of a proposal for a second phase of the proect: a new state-wide community music leadership program based on what people say is needed to stimulate the growth of inclusive singing and instrumental music making across the state.
Making Music as part of the Wonthaggi Regional Consultation Workshop at Archie's Couch
"It has been exciting and encouraging to be part of the consultation workshops for ‘Growing Community Music’ that have been held so far. Participants have been heard to remark that they ‘didn’t know there were so many different community music groups in the area!’ So many great ideas are being raised and already there is a feeling of the strength of the network of community music-makers and leaders. It has been fun and rewarding just to be in the same room together, put faces to names or share upcoming events. The journey is as important as the destination! "
Roll on Ballarat and Castlemaine!
