› Interested in SInging? Join us at Camberwell Chorale!17/Jan/2022
Camberwell Chorale is a non-auditioned community choir, which has been delighting audiences with the presentation of quality choral music since 1944. Each performance is in association with the skilled musicians of the Camerata Orchestra and some of Melbourne’s most talented soloists, and our Musical Director for the last 47 years, Douglas Heywood OAM, guides our musical success with careful preparation for performances which are a delight for all involved.
Given the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on us all for the last two years, 2022 will see the Chorale return to regular performance with a wonderful Concert Series:
Sunday, 1st May
Handel’s Foundling Hospital Anthem XVI, and the Ultrecht Te Deum & Jubilate Deo
Sunday, 17th July
Sir Edward Elgar’s From the Bavarian Highlands, and Sir Hubert Parry’s The Pied Piper of Hamelin
Sunday, 9th October
The Australian premiere of Dame Ethel Smyth’s Mass in D, a glorious work first performed at the Royal Albert Hall in 1893; this performance will be accompanied by an audio visual introduction to this remarkable, yet less well-known English composer, also a member of the women's suffrage movement.
Sunday, 4th December
Our door is always open to anyone who wishes to experience the challenge and thrill of learning and performing quality choral music. All voice parts are very welcome.
Commencing on Tuesday, 1st February, our 2022 rehearsals will be held each Tuesday evening, 7.30 pm at Camberwell Baptist Church, Cnr Riversdale Road & Wills Street, Camberwell. We’d be delighted to have you join us.
For further information about the Chorale, or just to have a chat about the prospect of joining, give our Membership Secretary a call on 0491 101 872, or alternatively you can email membership@camberwellchorale.
