Hello Community Music Makers, and welcome to Shout!

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this month’s listings, news and events, and thank you to our comms volunteer, Kass, for keeping an eye on the inbox, as ever!

Scroll down to see the latest in a long line of recent DHHS updates to restrictions, made on February 28; read about an exciting new rehearsal space ‘Under the Oaks’ in the Dandenongs, and familiarise yourself with the findings of research into a safe way to return to singing by the Ballarat Choral Society.

Book yourself in for CMVic’s Music Software Workshop #7 on March 22 when you can join Craig Barrie and special guests to learn more about how to make quality teaching tracks and collaborative recordings as a community music leader.

If you’re feeling a need to de-brief about the events of 2020 and the impact they’ve had on you, there’s a lovely opportunity for community music group and singing leaders to join Vanessa Chapple and Nicki Johnson in a CMVic Story Sharing for Rejuvenation session being held online this Friday March 5.

We'd love to help you share the word about any singing or playing opportunities you are planning into April and beyond! Please send the info to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) by March 22 and we'll include it in our listings and on the CMVic Facebook page.

Happy singing, happy playing, and warmest wishes to you all for March!

Ballarat Choral Society Researches Safe Ways of Singing Together Again

18 Feb 2021

In a quest to know if and how it could be safe to all sing together again, Ballarat Choral Society applied for funding from Regional Arts Victoria to conduct some research of their own. “What we were anxious about was that there didn’t appear to be any specific information coming through for choirs” says Merle Hathaway, President of the Ballarat Choral Society (BCS), a non-auditioned community choir with over 100 singers on the books…
