› Tecoma Threshold Songs with Barb McFarlane and Christina Reeves
Location: Tecoma Uniting Church, 1566 Burwood Hwy, 3160 , Tecoma - Open in Google Maps -
Songs to sing in the presence of a loved one who is dying.
Short, mostly 3 part songs with beautiful lyrics with spiritual and/or open meaning. The repertoire will equip us to serve people with a wide range of beliefs or no particular belief.
This will be an ongoing volunteer based group who will offer our time and voices to the service of those who would like it. This group is for anyone interested - regardless of age, spiritual beliefs, singing ability or mobility.
I will be teaching the songs and the part singing skills while Death Doula Christina Reeves will share the wisdom needed for people to be in the presence of person as they near transition.
This is inspired by the Threshold Choir movement in the US and being guided by their experience.
$10 Please bring and a plate of arvo tea to share to this session.
The plan: To start the project we will do 4 longer sessions a month apart to get everyone up to speed with songs etc and then keep it going as a regular rehearsal.
SESSION DATES 3-6pm at Tecoma Uniting Church
Sunday 3rd March
Sunday 7th April
Sunday 5th May

Committing to as many dates as possible enables consistency to build within the group, familiarity with the repertoire and will increase your confidence to sing in a small group.
